Wednesday night was Awana Awards night. Ian was excited to go and finally get his Bear award. He has wanted it all year and asked for it at least once a week. He could hardly wait to get his hands on it Wednesday night. We arrived early so we could get front row seats. This is the first time Ian had an awards program so we wanted to be there front and center to cheer him on. He worked really hard all year learning his verses and reciting them back to his teachers. He looked forward to going to Cubbies every Wednesday and loved wearing his blue Cubbies vest. Every time he earned a new patch he wanted me to hurry and sew it on his vest so he could show it off. Cubbies is a great program and I am thrilled that Ian loved it as much as he did. He will have one more year of Cubbies before he moves on to Sparks when he goes to kindergarten. I can't even think that far ahead, it makes me sad so I refuse to go there. So for now we take a break for summer and keep our Cubbies vest and bag hung up until it's time to start up again in the fall.

Bibles
Our church recently replaced the old pew Bibles with new Bibles. I decided that I needed to get my hands on a few of these Bibles for our family. My plan is to keep one for myself, give one to Isabella and one to Ian when they get married. These Bibles are very special to me since they come from the church where they were dedicated as infants, have grown up learning about God and His Word, and were they have an amazing church family.

Craft Day at Church
There was a craft day at our church this morning. It was 4 hours of uninterrupted craft time with some of my favorite ladies. We were busy making items for our annual Country Pantry that takes place in November along with our Ham Dinner. The ladies were busy sewing and stuffing the cutest fabric pumpkins ever. I am determined to buy at least 2 of them, maybe more if I get there early enough and can get my hands on them. I am not a sewer so I took my scrapbook stuff and worked on a mini album. I will post photos of that when I'm all done with it. After today's craft day I am more determined to get my own sewing machine and start working on some of my own easy projects. I had a nice time with my church ladies and am looking forward to doing it again soon. They are so much fun and I am so blessed to part of such a wonderful church.

Cubbies
Ian is 3. Actually he is 3 years and 7 months but who's counting. The fact that he is 3 is a big deal around here because he is now old enough to start Cubbies. I loved when Isabella was old enough to join Cubbies. She had the same little blue vest, blue bag, and big Cubbies book that we would work on during the week. We practiced verses and she earned lots of patches that I would hand sew on her little blue vest. Ian earned his vest and book last Wednesday. I was there when his teacher called his name and put his vest on him. He was smiling from ear to ear and was so proud of himself. He couldn't wait to get home to look through his book. I hope he is still excited when he actually has to sit down and do the work and learn the verses. It will be a great year for him and I am certain that he will learn a lot and make lots of friends.
Look at me!! I'm a Cubbie!!

Passing Notes
Isabella and I were passing notes today in church. I know I know. We shouldn't be doing that in church but she started it and I ended it pretty quickly. Her portion of the conversation is highlighted in pink. It was a funny conversation and I think I giggled a little at it before I made her put it away.
This is what was said:
Isabella: Can I have a pillow pet?
Me: Maybe
Isabllea OK (picture of happy face)
Me: Please sing now! Thank you
Isabella: I'm trying to concentrate on writing
Me: Concentrate on singing
Isabella: There is no song on
Me: There will be right now
Isabella: Ok
Me: Now let's pray
Isabella: Can I have a pillow pet?
Me: NO
Isabella: Awww (picture of sad face)
Me: Sorry but it's church time. No pillow pet talk
Isabella: The End
It's little things like this note that just make my day so much better. I think I will save it forever.

This is the hat
Ian found this hat in the van this morning. We were on our way to Bible study. I couldn't convince him to take it off. Once he has his mind set on something there is no changing it. So off we went. Ian kept it on for a long time. Took it off for just a little bit but made sure to put it back on when we left. He also put it in his backpack when we went to my moms house. I think I'm going to be seeing a lot of this hat. Hope the weather stays cool or else Ian is going to have one sweaty stinky head.

National day of Prayer
Today is National day of Prayer. Take some time today to praise God for who He is. Confess any sins that weigh on your heart. Give thanksgiving for all the blessings you have in Christ and all answered prayers. Give God any personal requests you have. Nothing is too big or too small for our God. Pray for your church, our country and the world. Sit down and spend some time with God today. All the cool kids are doing it.

Church and Goldfish
At our church when your child turns 3 they graduate from the nursery to big church and children's church. Since Ian turned 3 in February we've been struggling with ways to keep him engaged during big church until the kids get dismissed for children's church. Snacks have been a lifesaver for those first 40 minutes. Ian has a friend who sits in the pew in front if us with his family. Last Sunday they set up camp under the two pews with their snacks and color pages. It was one of the easiest Sundays we've had.
