December Goals

Ian and Isabella in front of our Christmas tree last year in their Christmas pj's.
Look who else wanted to be in the picture, Sophie our cat.
Isabella and Ian with Santa at Disneyland last year.
With December quickly upon us I wanted  keep myself from getting so stressed out about all that needs to get done for Christmas.  I wanted to find ways to keep the stress level low and excitement high about the holidays.  I want to continue past traditions and start new ones. So last week I came up with a list of ideas to go along with our Advent calendar. I have always wanted to do an activity each day for the month of December in preparation for Christmas.  This year I am going to give it a go and see how I do.  Since Isabella and I are spending the next 4 days rehearsing for recital I won't start our Advent activities until Sunday.  So here is a list of some of the things I want to accomplish this month to celebrate Christmas.

  • sleep under the Christmas tree
  • make Christmas cookies
  • make Christmas crafts
  • watch lots of Christmas movies
  • string popcorn to hang on the tree
  • drive around and  look at Christmas lights and drink hot chocolate
  • read lots of Christmas books
  • make Christmas treats for friends
  • take family pictures in front of the tree
  • read story of the birth of Jesus to the kids
  • listen to Christmas music and sing along
  • go to Disneyland during the Christmas season
I hope this inspires you to come up with some goals of your own to celebrate with your family.

Let's Dance

So this time of year is quite busy for Isabella and I.  It is the time of year that we spend all of our evenings at the dance studio rehearsing for the BIG SHOW.  It's my favorite time of year and it's also the most busy.  I mean with Thanksgiving, Christmas, and dance recital a haute housewife can only pull herself in so many directions before she feels a little run down.  This year is a big show for me. Not only am I in a tap number, I am also in a jazz number with Venus the dance team, plus I also choreographed a ballet routine for the preschoolers. I am most proud of my work as a choreographer.  It has been a dream come true for me.  I did it all by myself. Picked the music, put the routine together and chose the costumes. I have put my heart and soul into this little routine and I am so proud of the 8 little ballerinas who are performing it this Saturday.  Now don't get me wrong. I love dancing!! By nature I am a dancer. I have always loved to dance. Growing up I would spend hours in my room making up routines to music on the radio. I loved to watch American Bandstand and Solid Gold.  I loved to watch award shows just for the dance numbers. I loved to dance. I still do. At 36 years old I am living my childhood dream.  I will dance for as long as my aging body will allow. I think Isabella loves to dance almost as much as I do.  It has been a great experience for us as mother and daughter to not only have a passion for dance but to perform for our friends and families for the past 4 years.  It was even nicer having her as my assistant with my preschoolers.  She will be a great dance teacher some day. I look forward to many more recitals and one day watching her dance classes perform her choreographed routines.

To shop or not to shop? That is the question

It's Black Friday. Need I say more.  Which means that a crazy amount of people left the comfort of their warm cozy homes Thursday night to sit in lines until the store of their choice opened its doors to the masses.  Now don't get me wrong. I love to shop and I'm always on the lookout for a good bargain. But when it comes to camping outside of a store in freezing cold temperatures, well that's where I draw the line.  I have experienced Black Friday shopping in the past and will admit to getting some good deals. But I am not a morning person and since I've had my 2 children I covet any extra sleep I can get. So when Black Friday rolls around I turn my alarm clock off, sleep in, drink lots of yummy coffee,  watch some TV, and spend time on the computer. All the while in my pj's and from the comfort of this haute houswifes cozy home. For those of you who brave the crowds and cold on this Black Friday I raise my steamy mug to you, may you get all of the gifts on your lists and get a nice long nap in today.

I DID IT!!

I couldn't wait! I started my blog. I am very excited. I probably won't have too many posts right away since we have a busy couple of weeks ahead of us with our dance recital and the holidays approaching.  But I just couldn't wait any longer and was encouraged by my husband to go for it. So I did.  The goal of this blog is just to share all of the things we do as a family and all of the things that keep this Haute Housewife busy.  With a husband, 2 kids, a cat, and lots of activities on our calendar I will have plenty to share with you.  I hope you enjoy reading my blog. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!!
