December Goals

Ian and Isabella in front of our Christmas tree last year in their Christmas pj's.
Look who else wanted to be in the picture, Sophie our cat.

With December quickly upon us I wanted  keep myself from getting so stressed out about all that needs to get done for Christmas.  I wanted to find ways to keep the stress level low and excitement high about the holidays.  I want to continue past traditions and start new ones. So last week I came up with a list of ideas to go along with our Advent calendar. I have always wanted to do an activity each day for the month of December in preparation for Christmas.  This year I am going to give it a go and see how I do.  Since Isabella and I are spending the next 4 days rehearsing for recital I won't start our Advent activities until Sunday.  So here is a list of some of the things I want to accomplish this month to celebrate Christmas.

  • sleep under the Christmas tree
  • make Christmas cookies
  • make Christmas crafts
  • watch lots of Christmas movies
  • string popcorn to hang on the tree
  • drive around and  look at Christmas lights and drink hot chocolate
  • read lots of Christmas books
  • make Christmas treats for friends
  • take family pictures in front of the tree
  • read story of the birth of Jesus to the kids
  • listen to Christmas music and sing along
  • go to Disneyland during the Christmas season
I hope this inspires you to come up with some goals of your own to celebrate with your family.

  1. I like those ideas. That makes me want to make a list of things to do.

I agree we need to pass on the past traditions and create new ones with our kids.

For the past 2 years we have taken home made gifts that our family has made to the Bakersfield Rescue Mission. The kids get a front row seat to what other people are going through. They really understand that they are fortunate and see why it is important to give to others and that the meaning of Christmas is not to only recieve but is to Give just as God did in giving Jesus to us.

  2. I like your idea of taking gifts to the Rescue Mission. I think I will add that to our list too.
