Summer Reading Mini Album Part 2

I made this summer reading mini album last week for Isabella. I plan on taking pictures of books she reads, trips to the library, new books we buy over the summer, actual pictures of her reading her books, etc. and putting it all in this album. Of course I made one for myself since I plan on doing lots of reading this summer.  I think it’s a fun way to log all the books we will be reading this summer.  I’m going to make one for Ian too.  I know he isn’t reading yet but he loves to look through his books and has his favorites.  I think this is going to be a great little family project for us this summer.

Pinterest

Yes I love Pinterest!!! I'm obsessed with it. It's a great place to search all sorts of things.  Here is something I currently love and am going to do in Isabella's room this summer.

June Goals

June is upon us which means it’s time to come up with some more monthly goals.  I wanted to have some goals that were similar to the ones I’ve already been doing but I wanted to add some fun ones that incorporated Mr. G and the kiddos. I think I will be able to accomplish all the goals on the list. What are your goals for the month?

Summer Fun

Last summer I made this dry erase board to keep a list of all of the fun things we were going to do.  I saw the idea on a blog and thought it was a great way to keep track of all of the things that we already had on the calendar plus I could add a few fun no cost ideas too.  I hung it in our entryway and Isabella checked the boxes when we completed something from the list.  Today I erased last years plans and wrote some new ones.  I’m not gonna lie. I rewrote a lot of last years plans because they were so much fun and most of them took little or no money so I say lets do them again.  I added some new ones that are specific for just Ian or Isabella.  I want them to have something this summer that’s just for them. Of course I wanted to add “let mommy have a whole day without having to do any housework or cooking” but Isabella looked at me like that was the craziest idea ever so it stayed off the list.  I’m sure we might add a few more things to it over the next couple of days but I think what we have so far is going to keep us busy and create lots of fun memories.
What do you have planned this summer?

Crusader of the Year

We are so proud of Isabella.  Her teacher chose her as Crusader of the Year for 2nd grade.  We were able to make it to chapel today, the last day of school, to see her get her award.  She was just given Crusader of the Month for gentleness so when the school called last week to tell us that she was going to be Crusader of the Year I was surprised.  This award is given to students who exhibit all the fruits of the spirit most or all of the time all school  year.  Isabella isn’t perfect and we have seen this child exhibit characteristics that are not fruits of the spirit but we have worked really hard at raising her, training her, and disciplining her according to God’s Word. So when she gets recognized like this we can only give credit to God.  We will take our Crusader of the Year out this weekend to celebrate.

Today was also the last day of school.  It’s bittersweet for me.  On the one hand I am happy to have Isabella home all day with us.  On the other hand it means she will be a 3rd grader next year and I’m one year closer to Ian going to school.  They are growing up way to fast.  I don’t like it one bit but I can’t do anything about it.  So after the awards assembly today we went and watched Isabella play on the playground with her friends.  Such sweet childhood memories.  I hope she remembers this time at this school with her friends as the some of the best times of her life.

Summer Reading Mini Album Part 1

To say I have been working on my scrapbooking is an understatement.  I’ve been up to my elbows in patterned paper, chipboard and glue dots.  It’s been fun to get into all of my supplies and get creative.  Last night I decided to work on a mini album for myself.  I’m sure you remember this post when I highlighted some mini albums that I wanted to do this summer.  I’m sure you also remember this post when I listed all the books I wanted to read this summer. So it was only appropriate that the first mini album I made would be one that I would use to journal all the books I’m going to read this summer.  I’m so happy with how it turned out that I'm going to make one for Isabella to.  I already have some super cute paper set aside for it.  I’m thinking I can get to it tonight and hopefully have it completed by tomorrow.  Tonight is a dance night so I won’t have as much uninterrupted time to get it done.  I will post it as soon as it’s done.

Bella Birdie Handmade

I've spent the last two days organizing, cutting and assembling paper for my mini albums.  I finished the first set today.  Go here to see them. Not bad if I say so myself.  So when I was done I gathered supplies for the next two styles.  Here are some photos.  What do you think?
